Wren

Wave Memory Oscillator

View Product Page

Overview

Wren is a wave memory sound source that allows you to freely save and select waveforms across 8 user banks. Each waveform consists of 32 steps with 5-bit resolution and can be directly written from a PC via USB. Additionally, each bank can be assigned different modulation effects (sound coloration effects), enabling diverse sound creation without the need for patching.

Controls and Input/Output

Control Diagram

7 Modulation CV Modulation amount, minimum = OFF
8 Modulation Knob Manual modulation amount adjustment
9 LED Indicator Shows current bank by color, dims when USB connected
10 USB-C Port Receives editing commands, waveform writing

Sound Colors and Modulation

The following modulation effects (Modulation Types) can be assigned to each bank. The intensity of the effect can be continuously controlled by the Modulation CV value.

Modulation CV = minimum for OFF / maximum for 100% application.

Modulation Name Effect Description
Wavefold Folds the input signal to generate harmonics. Classic wave-folding style sound.
Overflow Creates distortion different from clipping through amplitude overflow (wrap-around).
Bitcrush Reduces output resolution for a lo-fi digital character.
Phase Distortion Distorts the phase reading position to vary the movement of the original waveform.
Resonance Adds resonant components for distinctive peak characteristics and wavering effects.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are waveform contents saved? → They are saved within the module, but will be erased on power-off if the save process (SAVE) has not been performed.

  • Is the output at Eurorack level? → Yes, the output is approximately ±5V (10Vpp) and ready for direct use.

  • How do I turn OFF modulation? → Set Modulation CV to minimum and it will not be applied. Adjust with knobs or attenuators.
